Free blackbox log check
Drop a Betaflight blackbox log to see its logging rate, whether it has enough data for each part of the tune and what’s missing. The file is read in your browser and never uploaded.
Check a log
What it checks
Logging rate
Filter tuning needs about 2 kHz (1.6 kHz on BMI270 gyros) to see noise up to about 1 kHz. 1 kHz is enough for PIDs alone.
Moves to fly
- Hover: a few seconds
- Slow throttle sweep: 1–2×
- Snap rolls: about 10
- Snap flips: about 10
- Yaw spins: about 10
- Split-S: a few
- Punch-outs: 2
What’s measurable
Whether there’s enough data for noise and filters and the response on each axis, and what to fly again if something’s short.
How to get your log
- Onboard flash: plug in, open the Blackbox tab of the Betaflight App and save the flash to a file. Or plug in to FPV PID Tune, which downloads it for you.
- SD card: put the card in a reader, or use the board’s USB drive mode, and copy the newest
LOGfile.
Not logging at the right rate yet? The blackbox logging guide shows the settings for each firmware version.
Log looks good? Get it tuned.
FPV PID Tune sets up logging for you, reads the flight and writes exact PID and filter values, with a full backup and one-click undo.
Tuning runs on a computer, with your quad on USB.
