What’s supported
Betaflight 4.3 and newer, in Chrome or Edge on a computer, on any quad whose flight controller can record a log.
At a glance
Firmware
Supported: Betaflight 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, 2025.12 and 2026.6. 4.5 and newer work best: they log unfiltered gyro as standard, and motor RPM when bidirectional DShot is on.
Not supported: Betaflight older than 4.3. INAV, KISS, Emuflight, QuickSilver and ArduPilot.
Browser
Supported: Chrome or Edge on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS.
Not supported: Firefox and Safari, which can’t talk to USB serial devices. You can still check a log with the free log check.
Log storage
Supported: Onboard flash, read over USB. SD cards through USB drive mode, or with a card reader.
Not supported: Boards with no flash chip and no SD card slot.
Quads
Supported: Whoops to 8-inch and bigger, with or without the RPM filter, as long as the board can log.
Not supported: Quads with hardware problems: tuning can’t fix bent props, worn motors or a loose frame.
Phones and tablets
Supported: The website, the flight checklist and your results.
Not supported: Connecting to the quad. That needs a computer.
No RPM filter? That’s fine
The RPM filter needs bidirectional DShot and suitable ESC firmware. If it’s off, the tune works around it with the dynamic notch and lowpass filters. FPV PID Tune never switches on features that need other firmware.
No special firmware
FPV PID Tune is independent and not affiliated with Betaflight. It isn’t Betaflight’s own experimental Auto-Tune, and it works with the firmware already on your quad.
Can’t connect?
Close the Betaflight App and any other configurator first: only one program can use the USB port at a time. Use a data cable, not a charge-only one.
Logging we set up
Set for you when you plug in. Fields tuning doesn’t need (accelerometer, attitude, GPS, magnetometer, altitude and RSSI) are switched off so the memory lasts longer. Finishing the tune puts your own settings back.
| Firmware | debug_mode | Logging rate |
|---|---|---|
| 4.3, 4.4 | GYRO_SCALED | About 2 kHz; 1.6 kHz on BMI270 gyros |
| 4.5 | NONE (unfiltered gyro is logged as standard) | About 2 kHz; 1.6 kHz on BMI270 gyros |
| 2025.12, 2026.6 | NONE | About 2 kHz; 1.6 kHz on BMI270 gyros |
