Safety and undo
Is it safe for my quad?
Every change is small and capped, and a validator checks each value against safety limits before anything reaches your quad. We save a full backup before the first write, read every value back after Apply, and undo automatically if anything doesn’t match. You can undo any round with one click, and restoring your original settings is always free.
What if I don’t like the new tune?
Press Undo: it puts back the exact values from before that round. Restore original settings puts back the full backup from your first plug-in, any time, for free. Or say what you don’t like: from round 3 on, and in the spare rounds after “Tuned.”, you can tell it what’s not right and the next round works on it.
Do I need to take the props off?
No. While it’s plugged in, the quad runs on USB power only, so the motors can’t spin. If we detect a battery, we ask you to unplug it before writing anything.
Getting started
Do I need to install anything?
No. FPV PID Tune runs in Chrome or Edge on a computer and talks to your flight controller over USB using Web Serial. You pick the port once in the browser’s picker, and a known quad reconnects on its own after that.
Which firmware and quads are supported?
Betaflight 4.3 to 2026.6, with 4.5 and newer preferred. Whoops to 8-inch and bigger, with or without the RPM filter, as long as the board can record a flight log to onboard flash or an SD card. INAV, KISS, Emuflight, QuickSilver and ArduPilot aren’t supported. See everything that’s supported.
What do I have to fly?
The test pack in rounds 1 and 2: a hover, a slow throttle sweep, about 10 snap rolls, about 10 snap flips, about 10 yaw spins, a few split-S and two punch-outs, in any order. Every move is needed. It takes about 2 minutes. From round 3 on, including the spare rounds after “Tuned.”, you fly the way you normally fly, on one battery.
Can I use my phone?
You can read the site, keep the flight checklist and see your results on a phone. Connecting to the quad needs Chrome or Edge on a computer, because phone browsers can’t talk to a flight controller over USB.
Is this Betaflight’s own Auto-Tune?
No. FPV PID Tune is independent and not affiliated with Betaflight. It works with Betaflight 4.3 and newer and needs no special firmware build.
The tune
What does it change?
PIDs and filters only: P, I, D and D max, feedforward, I-term relax, anti-gravity, TPA, the gyro and D-term lowpass filters, the dynamic notch, RPM filter values and the simplified tuning sliders. It also sets up logging for the test pack. Rates, modes, receiver, OSD, VTX and ESC settings are never touched.
How many rounds does it take?
4, one battery each. Round 1 tunes the filters, round 2 P and D, round 3 feedforward and I-term, and round 4 fine-tunes, then the app says “Tuned.” After that, spare rounds are there for anything you still feel, up to 10 rounds in all within 30 days.
I have several of the same quad. Can I make them all fly the same?
Yes. Copies of the same build rarely fly alike, because motors, frames and cameras differ a little from one to the next, so pasting one tune onto all of them doesn’t work. FPV PID Tune tunes each quad from its own flight. Pick the same feel in round 3 (Sharper, Balanced or Smoother) on each and they end up flying the same way. A tune covers one quad, recognised by its flight controller, so each quad gets its own tune.
Can I choose how it feels?
Yes, in round 3. You fly the way you normally fly, then answer “How did it feel?”: Too twitchy, Just right or Too soft. That picks Sharper, Balanced or Smoother, and you can change it before you press Apply. Rounds 1 and 2 apply Balanced, and the rounds after round 3 keep the feel you chose.
Can I tell it what feels wrong, in my own language?
Yes. From round 3 on, “Anything still not right?” takes a note in your own words, in any language. The AI checks it against that flight’s log and answers under your note in the same language, and the round works on it. In the spare rounds after “Tuned.”, the app asks “Anything not right?” when you plug in. Either way, the next time you plug in, it asks “Is it better now?”: Fixed, Better, Same or Worse.
Can it fix a quad that shakes or sounds rough?
Only if the cause is the tune. FPV PID Tune tunes PIDs and filters on a healthy quad and doesn’t repair hardware. If your note describes something a tune can’t fix, like jello in the video, the radio link, a desync, or a damaged prop or motor, the AI names the usual cause. Fix bent props, loose screws and worn bearings first: a tune can’t make up for them.
How does the AI pick the values?
Code measures your flight first: noise across the throttle range, and how each axis follows your stick moves. That’s what you see before you pay. When you unlock your tune, Claude, Anthropic’s AI model, proposes the values from those measurements and from everything learned in earlier rounds on your quad. A validator clamps every value to safety limits before you see it.
Your data
Do you upload my flight logs?
Your browser reads the log and sends only a compact summary of the measurements to our server. Sharing the raw log file is optional and off by default: it only happens if you tick “Share this flight log”, it never includes logs with GPS data, and we keep it for 90 days, then delete it. Read the details.
What do you store?
No account is needed to see your results: you sign in when you unlock a tune. From then on we keep your email, your quad’s details and tuning history, and the backup of its settings, so undo and later rounds work. You can export or delete all of it. Read the privacy policy.
Price and refunds
How much does it cost?
$10 / €10 / £8 per tune, tax included. Before you pay, you’ll see what we found in your flight and what this round will tune. Paying unlocks the AI-calculated exact values, the reasons and one-click Apply, and covers the whole tune for that quad: 4 rounds, then spare rounds up to 10 in all, within 30 days. The log check and setting-name converter are free tools. See pricing.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, if your quad flies worse at the end of the tune. Full refund within 14 days of buying when you finish your tune and tell us in the app that it flies Worse than before you started, or when we couldn't deliver (Apply failed, your quad wasn't supported, or no tune could be produced). It's once per flight controller, and a refund ends the tune; values already applied stay on your quad. Read the refund policy.
Is there a subscription?
No. No subscriptions, bundles or gift codes. One tune, one payment.
Ready when your quad is.
Tuning runs on a computer, with your quad on USB. Here you can try the free log check.
